As you pursue professional development opportunities, you earn Professional Development Units (PDUs). For each hour of participation in industry activities, you will earn one (1) PDU. As you earn PDUs, approved activities will appear on your transcript. For other activities, you will need to submit additional information for review and acceptance. You can learn more by viewing the FAQs.
Individuals who participate in professional industry activities and events, such as the HDI Annual Conference & Expo and the annual FUSION Conference & Expo, earn PDUs. You can also earn PDUs by attending local chapter meetings, speaking at events, writing an article, or deliver training to others. See Professional activities >>
Educational activities and events are another way to earn PDUs. Examples include professional development and certification courses, participation in HDI webinar events, and various other activities offered by organizations affiliated with the technical service and support industry. HDI maintains a searchable list of preapproved courses for your convenience. You may also submit documentation for courses completed through other organizations. Another way to earn PDUs in this category is to submit your formal postsecondary or graduate education for credit. For example, one (1) hour of degree credit (for a fifteen-week program) can earn you up to fifteen (15) PDUs! See Continuing Education activities >>
Professional Volunteer Service
Volunteering is a great way to get involved with and give back to your local community, but it's also a great way to earn PDUs! Get involved in volunteer-based activities, such as becoming a local chapter officer, serving on HDI's advisory boards, or donating your time to nonprofit charities. We know you’re committed to ongoing professional development. By reporting these activities and earning PDUs, you can keep your HDI certification active and demonstrate that commitment.
