Programs and Special Programs/Events

Special Programs

The Special Programs Committee, chaired by the VP of Special Programs, works throughout the year as needed to plan and offer programs and events to meet the needs of chapter members.  This committee is responsible for planning and hosting the July Networking Event and December Annual Meeting, as well as other programs and events that are offered in addition to the regular monthly meeting schedule such as chapter-sponsored training.

Please help ensure that these programs are truly SPECIAL by volunteering to serve on the committee.

Contact Tracey Touma, VP of Special Programs, via email at ttouma@agmc.org to get involved!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 -- 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Meeting Host: Modis

Speaker:  Pat Albright, HDI

Topic:  "Drive Behavior That Produces Results"

All too often, individual and team performance are based on an incomplete set of metrics. It's an approach that drives the wrong behaviors and creates an environment where analysts find ways to “game the numbers” so their measurements meet expectations, keeping them under the radar. Operational targets may be met, but customer satisfaction decreases, turnover increases, and employee morale sinks to all-time lows.

This session presents a practical approach using real data and reports—not theory—that attendees can put to use right away using the template provided in the session. You'll learn how to identify a balanced set of metrics that link to goals and objectives that are meaningful to the success of your organization, and how to use the balanced scorecard approach to drive behaviors that encourage performance, foster teamwork, and produce results.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 -- 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Meeting Host:  Kforce

Speaker:  Alan Block, UHHS

Topic: "Putting the Team in Charge and It Wasn't a Disaster"

While we often rely on managers, trainers, or human resources to create development plans for our employees, it’s actually the employees themselves who—when engaged to do so—best develop themselves and their teammates. In this session, Alan Block will provide actual examples of techniques used with the thirty-member service desk team at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. He will speak about the Manager for a Day program, the on-boarding process for new team members (conducted by the team itself), the Sunshine Club (managed by the team), meeting delegation, and the resolver team liaison program. The session will include guidelines for initiating these developmental engagement techniques, along with specific examples of success at UH.
