Recently I read a blog about turning around our focus from the ‘cost of a call’ to the ‘value of the calls’ we take. It was an interesting concept since in our business we focus so much on the cost of the call, the TCO, cost of repair. Yet we don’t seem to be focused on the value that our support centers bring to the organization. We do ROI and KPI focusing on cost. Ever wonder what is the true meaning of value. The dictionary defines values as:
”The property or aggregate properties of a thing by which it is rendered useful or desirable, or the degree of such property or sum of properties; worth; excellence; utility; importance.” (ARDictionary.com).
Bringing value to our lives, enhancing our profession, networking and engaging our support center community are the goals of the SD chapter of HDI. The board works to ensure that each meeting brings value to the participates. We strive to keep informed on new technologies, processes and the future of our business. We are fortunate to have a diverse board with expertise in many areas of Information Services bringing depth to our planning meetings. The end result of those board meetings is dynamic presentations that always bring value to the community.
Join us in June for our last meeting of the year. Our 2009-2010 board will present a roundtable discussion to determine what does “Value” mean to you. We will take the information gathered from our roundtable and energize the 2010-2011 board to meet those challenges by continuing to present meetings that meet your needs.
We know that everyone is busy and taking three hours a month to attend a meeting is a commitment that we appreciate. Each person that attends the meetings bring additional value to everyone in the room. The future of Support Centers is bright and filled with new technology, process and challenges. I can’t think of a better way to take them head on than together with all of you. Our networking creates the resources and friendships to get through the most difficult changes and shine for each of our organizations.
We look forward to seeing you on June 10 for the final chapter to this year. The new board is excited about putting together the programming for next year. We want to hear from you on what you want the chapter to become. Our September kick off will be filled with surprises and exciting directions, all gathered from your input in June.
Bring value to your organization, get involved with the SD chapter of HDI. You will be amazed at what you can learn, and how it will change your future.
