At our June meeting....

Round Table Discussion

So far in 2008, we've brought you great presentations from Kirk Weisler in Williamsburg, Robert Last in Virginia Beach, and Katherine Spencer Lee in Richmond.

Please join us back in Richmond on Tuesday, June 24th as the Executive Committee provides a mid-year review of what is happening now and what is planned for upcoming events.  Then its time we listen to you!

Several round table discussions will be held:
SLA's
Disaster Recovery
Improving Morale
Benefits of HDI Membership

Be prepared to network, share your experiences, and learn from peers. Bring your questions, documentation, and real-life examples so we can continue to build the IT Support Community in the Southern Virginia region.

Please RSVP with Kristin Kupetz

At our April meeting....

Management Development for New Managers

with Katherine Spencer Lee

How do you prepare someone for a future management career?

Help desk agents are often promoted due to technical proficiency. Yet these agents often lack people management skills because they have had no formal training, especially if they don't have higher education.

Katherine will discuss best practices for developing new managers, management development training, the importance of soft skills, succession planning, and younger managers working with more experienced staff members.

Robert's discussion included tips on where to find tools and techniques to implement the models or frameworks, how to get started with an implementation, and how to measure your progress and define success.
