2018 Analyst of the Year Award Finalist

Daniel Paulin, Canada Council for the Arts

Representing the HDI Ottawa local chapter

Siobhan TateDan worked in the IT Service Desk at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) for three years. I enjoyed working with Dan with his upbeat personality and energy that he put into his day to day along with his strong reasoning and critical-thinking skills. We faced many challenges together; some small and some much bigger, but Dan always embraced the challenges and changes as opportunities.

Dan is an enthusiastic learner and builds upon his experiences. As an example, he took on building service metrics from a system that already had reporting challenges; he continued to modify and improve these metrics knowing the importance of showing service value to the organization and how important a role the Service Desk plays.

One of Dan’s greatest assets is his passion for IT processes; making them work and ensuring that they are followed accordingly. Dan looked for opportunities to continuously improve our internal processes; recognizing that being abreast of IT processes helps improve the adaptability to the continual changes in business.

I am grateful to have met and worked with Dan. His contributions, professionalism and experience allowed my team to operate as if we had been working together for years. It was truly a relief to have someone as competent and committed to client service as he was. Dan’s efforts and dedication were very much valued, and I will be the first to say, any organization would be lucky to have Dan as their employee!

HDI Analyst of the Year Award

HDI introduced the Analyst of the Year Award in 2004. Each year, HDI works jointly with the local chapters to identify and award the industry's top first-level support analyst. Support analysts who are nominated at the local chapter will have an opportunity to compete with their peers locally, regionally, and globally for this prestigious award.

The nominator presents to the local chapter a personal business profile of the nominee, including specific attributes that demonstrate the nominee's understanding of industry standards, commitment to excellent service, and record of consistently exceeding performance objectives.

The winners from each of HDI's four local chapter areas are invited to participate in the Analyst of the Year Award festivities held during the HDI Annual Conference & Expo. Robert Half Technology, the premier sponsor, provides each regional winner's conference registration.
