partyWe may be in the depths of winter right now, but spring is just around the corner, as is SupportWorld Live 2023. The popular conference is being held April 30 - May 5 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

One of the best things about HDI events is that attendees often leave with an overflow of collective energy and new ideas. This has inspired some past attendees to write down what they’ve learned and what they value about SupportWorld Live. As we prepare for SWL 2023, we wanted to share three articles about SWL 2022 written by past attendees.

The Power of Community

HDI thought leader Doug Rabold shares how meeting others in the IT service and support communities at HDI events helped his career.

“I remember my first (HDI) conference like it was yesterday, because it was truly a ‘drinking from the firehose’ event. I sat in a pre-conference session facilitated by Doug Tedder which opened my eyes to how data-driven decisions based on valuable metrics can and should guide IT leaders to run IT as a business. With a keen understanding of business from my years in sales, this concept alone became somewhat career-defining for me as my IT career progressed.”

Savoring In-Person Events

Manish Sharma of Resolve.AI shared five key insights from SWL, and also the pure joy of getting face-to-face time with peers at a conference as the pandemic waned.

“While MS Teams and equivalent products have helped us remain productive through the pandemic – there is something about in-person interaction that cannot be replaced by technology. The discussions are more free-wheeling and spontaneous, we can read each other’s ‘mind’ better – and there is a more robust ‘human’ connection. Less structure = more creative discussions, most of the time. You end up with ideas and discussions far away from where you started – and often, you love the destination you reach. Most of all, solid peer-to-peer relationships are created that open channels for future conversations.

The Business Value of Face Time

Jorge Farah of InvGate shared how having a booth at SWL 2022 really helped his organization keep an ear to the ground of what’s going on in the IT support and services industries:

“The event provided a fantastic opportunity to meet teams from top industry vendors, and attend world-class seminars and keynotes. There’s being in-the-know about the world of service management, but discussing trends and best practices face-to-face – not to mention getting access to a wealth of knowledge from presenters and attendees – made SupportWorld Live 22 a priceless opportunity for any professional in the ITSM sphere.”
