1. What do I need to know before class?
    • We use GoToTraining for our virtual classes.
    • You can attend training from anywhere using a compatible computer or mobile device. To get the most out of GoToTraining, please download and install the full-featured desktop software to your Windows or Mac computer, or on your mobile device.
    • If you have installation limitations you can also join the training from Google Chrome rather than installing and using the GoToTraining app.

  2. How do I log into the course?

    You will receive an email from our training operations team one week before the class starts, which will include the link and passcode to enter the virtual classroom.

  3. Will I get a book for this course?

    Yes, three weeks before class you will receive an email from our training operations team asking where you would like to have your book shipped. Please respond to that email so we can ensure you have the course workbook prior to class.

  4. Do I have to have my webcam on?

    No, it is not a requirement to have your webcam on during the course. It is possible that the instructor will have theirs on, but students do not have to.

  5. Will I be able to talk to the instructor and other students?

    Yes, we encourage you to communicate either verbally or via the chat windows during the duration of the course, as the classes are designed to be interactive.

  7. How do I connect to the audio?

    The easiest way is to use your computer's microphone and speakers (VoIP). Alternately, if you wish to join audio from a phone, a phone number will be provided in the class connection instructions.

  8. How long after the class will it take to be registered for the exam and how do I access the exam?
    We will assign the exam no later than 2 business day's after the course is over. You will receive emails from [email protected] once you have been assigned the exam. These emails will outline where to log in and what your log in credentials are.

  9. How many questions are on the exam and is it timed?

    Most exams consist of sixty-five (65) multiple choice questions, and must be completed in seventy-five (75) minutes. Other exams consist of thirty (30) multiple choice questions, and must be completed in forty-five (45) minutes. A minimum score of 80 percent is required to pass a certification exam, unless otherwise published. Individuals who achieve the passing score will receive a certificate from HDI acknowledging their accomplishment and a credentialing logo that may be added to signature blocks and business cards.

  10. Is there a practice test to prepare for the exam?

  11. How and where do I take my exam?
    Once you are registered for your exam, you will receive confirmation emails from our online Learning Management System (LMS). These emails will come from [email protected]. Once your exam is active you will have 6 weeks to log in and complete it.

  12. What if I cannot attend a class for which I'm registered?

    Full payment is required prior to attendance. Participants cancelling their registration with less than ten days notice will be subject to a $150 course processing fee. "No shows" will pay full course rates. Participant substitutions are allowed. Please notify HDI immediately if you are unable to attend.

  13. Does HDI ever cancel a course?

    In rare instances, a course will be rescheduled or postponed. HDI will provide at least ten days notice. You may receive a full refund or use your credit toward another HDI course.

  14. Will I get a certificate of completion? When should I expect to receive it?

    Yes, upon completion of the course, you will receive a PDF certificate of completion via email.

  15. Can I get a recording of the class afterwards?

    No, classes are recorded for internal training and QA purposes and are not provided to participants.

  16. I passed my exam now what?

    After you pass the exam, you will immediately have access to your certificate of certification. We recommend you print it and also save a copy of the PDF for your records.

  17. What if I fail my certification exam, can I take it again?

    If you do not pass an HDI certification exam, please go to www.thinkhdi.com/retext to purchase a retake. After payment is received, the retake will be available within 1 business day.
